Giving a voice to those who previously had thought themselves voiceless, the No Longer Silenced Movement seeks to empower teenage and young adult survivors of child abuse. By working to build a national network, we hope to show them that a better way is there for them than continuing the cycle of abuse and the hardships that are fostered through it.
Even if someone escapes a life of abuse, it's not the end of the experience for them. Often times haunted by it, new challenges arise for them as they struggle to come to terms with it. Their own choices can be warped by the perspective drilled into them at a young age, and before they even have a chance to live, their lives are defined for them.
No Longer Silenced Movement is about putting the choice and the power in their hands. It is about teaching them that none of what has happened before is their fault and working with them to move past, putting behind them this chapter of their lives. Offering guidance and the hopeful testimony of those who came from a similar place as them who wish for them to know that they, as survivors, are not alone, and offering resources to break free of this hold, will help them move beyond constraints and break down barriers.
Never defined by abuse, the power to overcome is the strength within victims and knowing where to go to find help. Already isolated, the first step for survivors is one of the most difficult on the road to recovery. Finding that they are not alone, they can find the power within themselves to reach a better world and a better life.
This is the hope and love that No Longer Silenced Movement wishes to share with them. Founded by child abuse survivor Nicolette Winn, it's a movement that understands that each person coming out has faced and will face unique difficulties on the path to healing but that there is something greater, something better that unites them: the limitless potential they have that has for too long been suppressed by abuse.
Dedicated to the strength, stability, and hope of teenage and young adult survivors of child abuse victims, the No Longer Silenced Movement is on a mission of healing as it not only seeks to give voice to their struggle but help them find it for themselves.
