If you or someone you know has been or is currently being abused, it is necessary to contact the proper authorities.
Here are some of the authorities you may want to considering contacting:
- Your local police office
- Department of Family and Child Services (DCFS)
- The abused child's teacher, guidance counselor, or institute of education
- Childhelp (1-800-4-A-CHILD). Childhelp is national hotline that is recognized by www.childwelfare.gov.
Many of the numbers for these resources can be located online. When in doubt, call your local police office, and they should be able to point you in the right direction.
